about

"Dear Kiefer" is a thank you song to the arts which help us heal, escape, or simply enjoy life. Specifically, the song is a thank you to Kiefer Sutherland for his role in the Fox TV show "24" and my discovery of his songwriting career, which helped me find inspiration for writing songs again to finish this album!

lyrics

Dear Kiefer

Dear Kiefer
Thank you for your gift of grace
Dear Kiefer
Thank you for that time you made my heart feel safe
Dear Kiefer, (Dear Kiefer) thank you for showin’ me the way

Now you don’t know me
But you helped me escape for 24 hours of peace
Yeah I found you (Yeah I found you)
When I needed somethin’ new and some release
Somethin’ to make it through my days
Make all of that pain just go away,
For 24 hours at least

So Dear Kiefer
Thank you for your gift of grace
Dear Kiefer
Thank you for that time you made my heart feel safe
Dear Kiefer, (Dear Kiefer) thank you for showin’ me the way

Now I see you
Sitting there with that smoke ring ‘round your face
Guitar by your side,
Shot of whiskey just ready to taste
All those tattoos on your arms,
And scars deep in your heart
And true sultry eyes that admit
You’ve enjoyed all your mistakes

Now you’re just livin’ large
Livin’ on the road
Traveling around the world
With everywhere to go
You’ve got no time to waste
No regrets unless you hesitate
Followin’ your heart each and every day
And you’re still showin’ me the way

So Dear Kiefer,
Thank you for your gift of grace
Dear Kiefer
Thank you for the time you made my heart feel safe
Dear Kiefer, (Dear Kiefer) Thank you for showin’ me the way
(For 24 hours at least)
Yeah Dear Kiefer, (Dear Kiefer) Thank you for showin’ me the way

Jeannie Caryn Atlanta, Georgia

Jeannie Caryn found her way to her guitar as a means of escape. Raised in “Sin City,” Las Vegas, Nevada, she longed for something other than gambling, neon, or plastic to which she could surrender her soul. She is driven by her passion to capture and celebrate the human experience and make authentic connections through story and song. Someday, she'd love to see her name glowing in neon lights. ... more
